There are four several Kolab account types that can be selected when creating a user on the Kolab Server:

  1. User Account
This is a "normal" user account with an email address, they can be mailed from the outside, and will show up in the ldap address book.
    Storage location: Base-DN
  2. Internal User Account
This type of user is similar to (1), but will not show up in the ldap address book. Please also note that an internal user is not able to send mail to the outside.
    Storage location: cn=internal, Base-DN
  3. Group Account
A group account is designed for the teamwork of several users. Names of group accounts should bear the titles of the workgroups. To permit a user to send emails with a group account, the user mail address have to add as email delegate (of the group account). By default the user calendar has write access at the IMAP calendar folder to accept invitations automatically (see invitation handling).
    Storage location: cn=groups, Base-DN
  4. Resource Account
Resources (e.g. meeting room, company car) can be managed with the Kolab Server. Like (3), the user calendar has write access at the IMAP calendar folder by default.
    Storage location: cn=groups, Base-DN

To share IMAP folders of these Kolab accounts with several Kolab users you have to set IMAP access rights.
